History GCSE Tutoring
History is a fascinating subject to study, and is a popular choice for pupils who are looking to pursue a deeper understanding of the past. An understanding of history can unlock a wider understanding of our world today, and can help to bridge the gap between different cultures and people.
The fascinating nuance and complex nature of history can make it a challenge to study, however, if you are looking to pursue an understanding of history at GCSE level, it is important to find the right online history tutor and support to ensure you achieve those grades that you deserve.

Why You Should Study History GCSE
History at GCSE level provides a broad understanding of the past. It offers a glimpse into the lives of individuals and cultures ranging from medieval Europe right up to modern-day America, in addition to offering valuable insight into the ways in which society could function in the future.
By studying key periods in history, you will gain an insight into the changes that have taken place over time, and how these changes have shaped our world today. In the process, you will also develop a better understanding of the likely future of our society.
This is a subject that has the potential to act as a gateway to a huge range of careers; it can help you to develop strong analytical skills that are invaluable in many fields, in addition to providing a breadth of knowledge that will be beneficial in whatever path you choose. If you choose to continue to study history at further education, we have A level history tutors who can support you in your studies.
Potential careers may include archaeology, teaching and museum curation, as well as law, politics, and journalism – all of which have a need for strong analytical thinking and a grasp of history.

Topics Covered In GCSE History
Our GCSE History tuition follows the specifications that state that pupils must study content from three eras:
- Medieval (500-1500)
- Early Modern (1450-1750)
- Modern (1700-Present day)
Study must also cover three geographical contexts:
- A locality (the historic environment)
- British (Mus cover a minimum of 40% of the assessed content)
- European and/or wider world settings
Students must study:
- A thematic study – understanding change and continuity across a period covering all three eras
- A period study – focused on a time span of at least 50 years, and intended to help students understand a narrative of unfolding issues and developments
- A study of the historic environment – focused on a specific site and its historical context
How Is History GCSE Assessed?
GCSE History is now a linear qualification, with two exams taken at the end of the two-year course.
The first paper is a thematic study and period study, lasting for two hours and covering content focused on “Understanding the modern world”, with a combination of period and world depth studies.
The second paper, also two hours in length, focuses on “Shaping the nation”, and looks at thematic studies and four British depth studies.
